Myrtle Beach is a city and vacation place in South Carolina. The 60 miles beach line by the Atlantic coast and over 100 quality golf courses make Myrtle Beach a famous place to visit. The four places we enjoyed in Myrtle Beach are the beaches, Brook Green Gardens, Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach and Shelling and Lighthouse Cruise.
The White Sand Beach

The beaches in Myrtle Beach are white sand beaches. The total of 60 miles beach has a lot of public access, fishing piers, and parks. There are also plenty of resorts by the beach side have their own private access. The resort we stayed was Seaside Resorts, located right on the beach side. We could watch the sunrise on the deck. I loved to walk on the beach. The sand was white and soft. It was April, the water was not warm enough to swim, but walking and running on the beach was so lovely. We found this little jellyfish on the beach. Kids felt sad for it, so they decided to bury it with sand. They dug a hole, put the body in it, and filled sand into the hole, made a little tomb. But the wave ran over the tomb, took away the sand. They did again, and again, fighting with the wave until the wave took the jellyfish body away with it. I was so glad to watch them doing this. No matter how many times they had to repeat, they never gave up until the last second.
Brook Green Gardens
Brook Green Gardens is a unique place which combined art, nature, and history altogether. The garden has four themes of the exhibitions – Botanical Gardens, American Sculpture, Lowcountry History, and Lowcountry Zoo.
Botanical Gardens has seasonal flowers. We were there in April 2016, there were tulips all over the gardens. My favorite part was the oak trees. There were so many big live oak trees standing there with the stringy stuff floating in the air, like the hair of the tree.
Brook Green Gardens has the largest and the most comprehensive collection of American Sculpture in the country. The collections were placed in the fantastic garden settings, with seasonal botanical flowers and plants around. You can enjoy both art and nature in one place.
The Lowcountry History and Zoo exhibitions are the trails of wildlife and historic combination. We didn’t go to that part because of their scheduled time not fitting in our schedule.
Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach

Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach is a neat place to go. The sea turtles and sharks are the fun part to watch. You walk through a tunnel underneath the water, the fish, turtles, and sharks are swimming above your head. The moon jellyfish was dancing in the tank. I was amazed by the blue color because blue is my favorite color. Do you think they look like a ghost? Another fun part was touching the jellyfish. The trick was to touch the top of the jellyfish, not the legs of the jellyfish if you don’t want to be stung.
Shelling and Lighthouse Cruise in Georgetown
Shelling and Lighthouse Cruise is a shell hunting tour, located in Georgetown SC. It is about 50 mins driving from Myrtle Beach. Downtown Georgetown is the 3rd oldest city in the state, and full of historic sites to tour. We took the boat to a remote barrier island where the Winyah Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, and pass through the Georgetown Lighthouse, which was built-in 1811, lit the way for over two centuries.
The most fun part of this trip was “Being the Captain” part. All the kids in the cruise got a chance to drive the boat as the captain. Look at my two “Captains”, so happy and proud!
I hope to go back Myrtle Beach in the summer next time so we can enjoy more fun in the ocean.
